Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a conservative healthcare approach designed to focus on proper body mechanics- particularly that of the spine, in order to restore or maintain proper body health and function. Chiropractors are nonsurgical spine specialists with advanced training in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating spine related conditions.

Can I claim my treatment with Elite under my insurance?

Absolutely! After each session, you will receive an invoice to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We do not guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse for all or any of the treatment.

What equipment are you bringing with you? And what is the minimum space required?

We will be bringing a portable chiropractic table and collapsible stool as well as other essential treatment tools. We will provide all of the necessary tools to treat you. We will need an 8 ft by 8ft space to treat you comfortably.

How may I pay you?

We accept various forms of payment including HSA and FSA, credit card or cash.

How long should I expect each treatment to take?

Each follow up treatment session is expected to last between 30-40 minutes from start to end. You can expect your initial evaluation to be an hour long.

Any specific attire I should wear?

Loose fitting clothing is recommended, which makes it easier for us to treat your area of complaint.

What geographical areas does Elite serve?

We aim to serve the south shore of Long Island from West Islip to Blue Point.

The thought of getting adjusted is a bit nerve-racking for me. Do I have to get adjusted when getting treatment?

We completely understand the hesitancy toward manipulation and want you to feel comfortable during your treatment. We will never do anything that you are uncomfortable with. There are many other ways that we can create movement and decrease pain within those joints without manipulation.

I have pets at home, will this be an issue?

I would say that about 80% of my patients own either a cat or dog. We love animals!

Can I get treated in my backyard?

Absolutely, we love being able to treat our patients outdoors.

I’m very concerned about getting exposed to Covid-19, What precautions is Elite taking in order to minimize exposure?

You can rest assured that we are taking all of the necessary precautions not only for the health and safety of our patients but also for our loved ones at home. All patients will be screened for Covid-19 related symptoms within 12 hours of every visit. We will be taking temperatures of both ourselves and patients upon entry for every visit while simultaneously asking the proper covid-19 screening questions. Face masks will be worn by both the providers and patients during the entirety of the visit. All equipment will be properly sanitized after every use and proper hand washing will take place before and after treatment.

What should I expect from a typical treatment session?

You can expect our undivided attention, allowing us to provide a thorough evaluation and treatment during every visit. We will provide all of the necessary treatment materials and make it a convenient and relaxing experience. Schedule your free 15 minute phone consultation to meet our providers and learn more about our services.

Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?

Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. There is usually minimal, if any, discomfort involved.
